Images can only be uploaded as jpg, png or gif formats. You can upload different formatted images to the same Otto image.
We recommend using image files of less than 500 KB for best results, though the limit for an individual image upload is 5 MB. Please be aware that larger images will effect your sites loading speed in negative ways. Keep your images as small as possible without sacrificing quality.
We recommend uploading images between 1500px and 2500px wide. If the image is going to be full width across a screen then it should be 2500px in width so it appears high quality on all screen sizes.
What Happens After You Upload An Image?
We save all scheduled images on our servers until their upload time. Once uploaded to your site then the image is stored in your themes assets folder under the name of the location and format extension. For example, if you upload or schedule a png image for the 'Homepage Banner' then you can find that images file in your themes assets as homepage-banner.png.
This means that you can use our snippet or use the asset file in any way you'd like given Shopify's documentation.
